Easington Colliery, as part of Peterlee East, has been selected for the new Pride in Place Programme, a government initiative designed to put decision‑making directly into the hands of local people in some of the most in‑need neighbourhoods across the UK. The programme allocates £2 million per year for the next ten years, enabling communities to choose and shape projects that will make a real and lasting difference in their area. In order to access this funding, it is necessary to co-design the Pride in Place Plan for submission on 28th November 2026.

This consultation invites residents and stakeholders to share their views on the area’s strengths, opportunities, challenges, and aspirations for the future. Please note that this stage of engagement will close on 30 June 2026.
